Right before I feel a light touch on the small of my back, the hair along my arms starts to stand on end and as soon as the contact is made that electricity sparks and I know immediately that it’s him. Orion. He’s standing behind me, his hand on my back and when I try to turn around, he stops me. “Keep watching.”
I look at Rachel, who is opposite me, for confirmation that he is really the one standing behind me and her wide eyes tell me that I’m right. When the guy goes to roll again, Orion shifts, arches around me and places what I can only assume to be a rather large bet on the table. “Mind if I roll?” I hear him ask the guy who looks from the table to him, to me, and back to the table. Reluctantly he hands over the dice and Orion steps to the head of the table. He places the dice in front of my face. “Blow.” I obey, but I am lost in the deep dark chocolate of his eyes. He doesn’t look away from me as he tosses the dice down the table.
I hear collective gasps and it is suddenly so quiet in the casino that I can hear the dice hit the table, and then the wall before they bounce back onto the table. All the while his eyes never leave mine and a connection is made between us. The warm tingling sensation I felt when he walked up spreads across my body and the table erupts into cheers. He is the first to break it and look along the table.
“Sir, how would you like your payout?” the dealer asks Orion who then looks at me.
“What room number are you staying in?”
“What— oh, um, seventeen seventeen.” Why would he ask me that?
“Have it credited to the lady’s room, plus the bet.”
My Rant: Holly smokes batman, one week will rock you to your core. Ms. Derrick writes this story with such a comforting flair as the romance sweeps you completely off your feet. One week is exhilarating and the exploration in the BDSM world is memorizing. In this story Dakota encounters a life changing event that made her think about herself and life. To get through the event she and her friends take a trip to Vegas. Ok, you all know what happens in vegas stays in vegas lol. Dakota is broken, kind of tainted in sorts. She needs to finder herself and get her groove back. Wink, wink, you all know what I mean. When she meets Derrick all hell breaks loose and its game on, but Dakota is holding back because she is afraid of being hurt. Who wants to lay there feeling on the line so that someone can crush them again? But Derrick is so smooth, sexy and has all the great qualities of a good man with an exotic and adventurous twist, you can’t help but fall for the guy. Derrick begins to show Dakota joy and the chance to love again and he also introduces her to the world of BDSM and his so hot and tempting edgier side. Once these two embark on this journey together the pages begin to burst in flames and her left panting, why? Because Zoey brings those emotions out of you and makes you want and groan for more. The romance is raw, animalistic but loving and tender. The balance between the two is flawless and the HEA in the story is super-duper swoon worthy. I must bow down to Ms. Derrick, because she is an edgy and sassy writer that draws her readers in to her imagination. Zoey Derrick is definitely one of my favorite writers due to her ability to expand her talents over several genres which makes One Week, Finding Loves Wings and the Reason Series my all time favorites.
My Recommendation:
I rated this book 5 out 5 Purple Rant Heart and I would recommend this book and series to anyone that enjoys an steamy Erotic story with exotic methods of submission.
Not only does she aim to take her readers on an erotic dance that lasts the night, it allows her to empty her mind of stories we all wish were true. Her stories are hopeful yet true to life, skillfully avoiding melodrama and the unrealistic, bringing her gripping Erotica only closer to the heart of those that dare dipping into it.
The intimacy of her fantasies that she shares with her readers is thrilling and encouraging, climactic yet full of suspense. She is a loving mistress, up for anything, of which any reader is doomed to return to again and again.
