Book Blurb: She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.
The opportunity was just too damn
delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000
to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she
grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton,
and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come…
Turns out, Chicago has some pretty
hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like
he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more.
Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door
poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is
certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.
And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.
My Rant: This book
was great. I completely loved the story. The plot was well written and the
characters made it easy for you to fall into a reading frenzy. Ginger was very
strong, independent and determined. My heart completely reached out to her
because of the things she has had to witness as a child. It was also saddening
that she did not get a chance to be a kid because she had to take care of her
sister Willa, which turned out to be a completely witty character. The author
draws you into to Gingers and Willa’s past and she capture’s you there because
the emotions you are experiencing are so raw.
You begin to feel a sense of hurt and betrayal for the one person you think should have protected them from that life, their mother. Victoria Peet was a piece of work. Every time this woman came into the story you wanted to smack her head around in circles literally. She made no attempt to do better by her daughters, which was really sad.

Who could blame Ginger for taking
the opportunity to gain her and Willa’s freedom. No one should have to live a
life those girls had to experience. But after all, if it wasn’t for their
tragic upbringing Ginger and Willa would not be the strong women as they were
in the story. And you get to see that
strength when they set out on their own together. You begin to admire their
courage. But as you come out of one
situation you are drawn into another.
When Derek Tyler comes into to the
story, the things he would say just made my heart skip a beat and put goose
bumps all over my body. Derek demanded the leading role and had no whelms of
taking control when needed.
It is really hard to breathe right
now. I am having trouble focusing on
writing this review; Derek of course is not making it easy for me. He was so demanding and possessive that it
almost crossed the line but it balance out throughout the story. I could not
help but drool over him.
Derek: I want you underneath me in my bed. I want to have to remind you of your own name. And I want those M*****F***ers leering at you from the other side of the bar to smell me on you for a week afterwards.
As soon as Derek and Ginger collided
my world came crumbling down. The characters tastefully blended with the other.
Ginger needed to be possessed and Derek was the one to give her that and some.
Derek needed to help her overcome her insecurities about love. But what I loved
about Ginger is that she met Derek head on and gave him a complete run for his
money.
The bedroom scenes were so erotic,
that I had to re-read a couple of the passages because I was in shock. I just
could not come to grips over some of the things Derek would say
Ginger: you will have to work for it.
Derek: Ginger the longer it takes me to get in between your thighs the rougher I am going to be when I get there.
Omg. Did he just say that? Re-wind um yeah he did say that. No I need to pick my mouth up of the floor.
And when I thought Derek could not get any more erotic than that. Please, the
next scene tops that. This man was insatiable and raunchy and I loved every bit
of it.
This book also had a lot of laugh
out loud humor which made the story appealing, and most of the time Willa was
just the witty one to bring it. Although Willa was not the main character she
was an interesting one with a lot of spunk. Willa has her own issues to work
through but what surprised me was that Willa had a lot more courage than Ginger
and through that courage she taught her sister that sometimes you have to let
the past remain in the past and just take the time to live for today.
I was sad when I finished the book.
I didn’t want to leave Derek behind but the book was so good I couldn’t help but
finished it quickly. Dam I hate that!
My Recommendation
I gave this book 5 out of 5 Purple
Rant Hearts. I completely love the story and the characters and would recommend
this to anyone that reads contemporary romance.
