What is this book About?
Her
heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa’s body screams at
her to run… but yet she’s powerless to move.Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence.
In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees – and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell – Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.
Because what Alessa hasn’t figured out yet is that she’s not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university’s idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface…
The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results.
Excerpt:
Alessa could see the flash
of doubt in his eyes, but only for a moment before he set his jaw.
“Listen, he needs to learn sometime. I can’t hold him off anymore – he
wants a part in this, and I can’t protect him forever.”
Alessa’s head thrummed with
apprehension – she had a very bad feeling about this – but she knew she
couldn’t change his mind. She stepped forward and grabbed hold of his
shovel, locking her eyes with his. “Just be careful.”
He smiled brightly, suddenly
cocksure. “You know I’ve got this. Don’t even worry about it.”
His grin was meant to be
reassuring, but Alessa knew better. If there was one thing she’d learned
here, it was that nothing was ever as it seemed – and there were no sure bets.
“I’ll see you tonight,” he replied, intrepid as ever. “Bring your appetite.”
My Rant:
AMAZING……
This book takes you on a journey that would make your head swim. I mean in a
good way. I have never read a book like this before. It was easy for me to
become attached to the main character Alessa. She had a lot going on in her
life starting from the death of her parents onto her ability to see ghost, But
not just any ghost. An attractive young man name Isaac that has captured her
heart in ways that is unfounded by the character herself. Isaac, displays the
same emotions as Alessa but the meaning for the emotions are left unclear until
the true story unravels itself and boy did this book unravel me. I mean, I am still in awe as I am writing
this. The author wrote this book from the POV of Alessa and Issac so that you
can feel what they felt throughout the story. There is a rush of emotions you
experience as you go through the back-stories to figure out why the characters
ended up they way they did. But what threw me for an unexpected surprise was
the turn of events. While reading this
book you become entrapped in a ploy. You think the story just lie’s between two
lovers that are trapped in to different dimensions of time longing and loathing
to be with each other and then bam the reality hits and everything you thought
was happening turns out to be a complete sham. Everything is a lie. When the
wheels begin to turn you become even more entangled in the story. What seems to be reality is not and you have
to work your mind around to except the truth. I was in complete shock.
Literally. I mean, I really have to
discuss what I am feeling about this book. Its like waking up in a dream that
is a dream and in your dream you are still sleeping. How do you wake up three
times without really waking up. Does
that make sense? Probably not…. I feel
confused but in a good way. Through all the twist and turns in the book you
feel compelled to want to know more. Isaac and Alessa just give you that needed
strength to keep pushing on through the story because now you are hell bent on
finding out who is the mastermind behind the madness. Although the book started out slow this story ended up for me as
one of the most creative stories I have read and I really enjoyed the plot.
